Last few weeks have been packed with work, thus the slight inconsistency with this blog.
Looking at the last year I do feel very lucky to have survived the year, I am sure many of you agree with that!
Coming to the luck side of things I came across 4 kinds of luck listening to Marc Andreessen & Naval and thought of sharing those with you –
- 𝘽𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙇𝙪𝙘𝙠 – Which is the only one completely out of your control Eg. Winning a lottery ticket or winning a strategy game the very first time you play it
- 𝙇𝙪𝙘𝙠 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚, 𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 & 𝙈𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣- You generate enough hustle energy consistently that luck happens. Eg A fresher joining an organization gets promoted to manager over and above everyone else
- 𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙜𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙇𝙪𝙘𝙠 – 𝙎𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 & 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣 𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙- requires skill, knowledge and expertise in your field. Eg A company like Zomato understanding the food space in India and creating an aggregator platform
- 𝘽𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙦𝙪𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙧- Luck finds you when you are doing something unique and are such an expert at it that people come to you to solve that unique problem. The more unique you are the higher payoffs in the long run. Eg The top 4 consulting firms are automatically called on by a corporate when a new project is undertaken
Blind luck is something which will always be in the mix but the other 3 types are in your hand and can be developed.
