Did this question come to you as a shock or was this something you immediately had an answer to?

Very frankly, whichever way you went it doesn’t really change much. I know people who figured it out while retiring out of their professional lives and some got their dream job right after studies.

Always remember, ‘The Dream Job’ is something that regularly changes based on an individual’s career progression.

In today’s message I wanted to focus on the definition of a dream job vs just articulating what that job is for you! I’m sure the question would have put you in thinking towards it anyhow.

When I coach people for Career Development, a question I often ask is: “What is your Dream Job?”

I get varied answers to this question, these range from a job with high pay to a job with a better position to a job in a better location, so on and so forth!

While I respect each answer as they are based on the priorities of the individual at that point in time I sincerely feel we require a simple definition that could be universally applicable.

So here is my definition of “A Dream Job” which I share with people –

A 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗝𝗼𝗯 is the one which 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 you to 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄, by 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 utilizing your 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 and 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 & 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 you, for the same.

I feel this is a powerful definition, and most of the people I work with seem to agree with it. Does this fit the bill for you? Or do you have a different thought? Let me know in the comments!
